Your Energy Has a Map
Welcome, everyone. I’m so grateful you’re here for the Tuesday Talks at 10:30 recap. This is a moment in time created several years ago. It is meant to be a safe space to explore your spiritual path. We touch upon many subjects, from grief to connecting to spirit and our higher selves, stone energy, and so much more. Whether you are live or on replay or reading the blog, you have arrived at the exact moment you were meant to be here.
Welcome back, all returning connection tribe, and if this is your 1st time here, welcome to the connecting family. I am so glad you found us.
I’m Spiritual Healer, Author, Retreat Facilitator, Keynote Speaker, and an Evidential Medium, Stacey Niedentohl. I wear many woo-woo hats, and my passion is to meet you where you are in your journey of healing and growing.
Last week, we started off talking about energy cleaning and energy clarity. Our topics for discussion for September will incorporate balance and inner alignment. We’ll be breaking it into different segments on harmony, organization, spiritual refinement, focus: will be on energy cleansing, chakra balance, clarity energies, Autumn equinox and recalibration.
Today, I want to dive deep into the chakras.
In spiritual circles, we talk about chakras all the time, but what are they really? And more importantly, what can they tell us about ourselves?
Why Does Chakra Energy Matter?
Think of your chakras as a kind of energetic map of you. They’re connected to different areas of our physical, emotional, and spiritual experience. And when we talk about chakra balance, we’re really talking about being aware of what is happening within us. We are reviewing the roadmap of our being.
When we’re emotionally balanced, we can recognize what we’re feeling instead of being controlled by it. When we’re grounded, we can respond to life instead of reacting. When we’re connected to our personal power, we make choices from our truth rather than from fear or the need to please everyone. When our hearts are open, we can give and receive love. When we’re able to express ourselves, we don’t have to keep our mouth shut and keep swallowing our truth. And when we trust our intuition, we’re more aware of that quiet inner knowing that helps guide us.
That’s why I believe understanding our chakra energy can be such an important part of an emotionally balanced and spiritual life. This is all part of awakening our knowledge of noticing when we are out of alignment. It’s not about having perfectly balanced chakras all the time.
Life Doesn’t Work That Way
This segment is about learning to recognize when something within you feels off, and becoming curious enough and brave enough to ask, “What is this trying to tell me?” Spiritual awakening isn’t about escaping our human experience. It’s about becoming more aware of it. And the more aware we become of ourselves, our emotions, patterns, energy, and our intuition; the more consciously we can choose how we want to live.
The Seven Main Chakras
There are seven main chakras. They are areas of life and awareness rather than simply colors and locations. We hear about the colors and their locations, but sometimes that only adds confusion instead of insight. So, let’s break it into location, meaning, questions to area asks, and then move into colors. Wouldn’t you agree that we need to know how to navigate the insight we are being given? If we’re going to use our chakras as an energy map, we need to know where these points are on the map. The seven main chakras move along the centerline of the body, beginning at the base and moving upward toward the crown of the head. As we move upward, we’re moving from some of our most basic human needs like safety and grounding toward intuition and spiritual connection. Let me be honest here, there is no wrong way to experience your own energy. We’re not looking for the perfect answer. We’re simply learning to listen to what we are given.
Here is how they are laid out, their location, and questions to ponder.
🔴 Root — Base of the spine / pelvic floor
Grounding, safety, stability, belonging.
Do I feel safe? Do I feel grounded in my life?
🟠 Sacral — Lower abdomen, just below the navel
Emotion, creativity, pleasure, flow.
Am I allowing myself to feel, play, create, and enjoy?
🟡 Solar Plexus — Upper abdomen / stomach area
Personal power, confidence, self-worth, action.
Where am I giving my power away?
🟢 Heart — Center of the chest
Love, compassion, connection, receiving and giving.
Am I open to giving AND receiving love?
🔵 Throat — Throat area
Communication, truth, expression.
What am I not saying? Where am I silencing myself?
🟣 Third Eye — Center of the forehead, between the eyebrows
Intuition, insight, inner knowing.
Am I trusting what I know, or am I talking myself out of it?
⚪ Crown — Top of the head
Spiritual connection, awareness, connection to something greater. Do I feel connected to something greater than myself?
Now, when I say these chakras are connected to different aspects of our experience, I’m not saying that if you have a problem with your throat, for example, your throat chakra is necessarily the cause. This is an energetic framework, a way of bringing our awareness to different parts of ourselves. Remember, we are thinking about it as a map, not a diagnosis. That keeps you grounded and makes the concept much more accessible.
Energy check-in:
So now you know where the points are on the map. Let’s see what happens when we actually bring our awareness to them. I’m going to take you from the base of your body all the way to the crown of your head. As we move through each area, be aware of what you experience. You might feel something. You might see a color. You might feel nothing at all. Whether it be a thought, feeling, memory or a word, just be conscious of the experience. Then bring it back into alignment. When I say bring it back to alignment, I’m saying bring your focus back to that area. This is where I think an energy check-in is really powerful.
In a minute, I’m going to ask you to close your eyes and move your attention through your body. As I name each area, just notice. Don’t fix anything. Don’t judge anything. Just notice what comes up.
Before we talk about balancing our chakras, I want to invite you to simply notice your energy. You don’t have to know anything about chakras to do this. There are no right or wrong answers, and you don’t have to make anything happen.
Let’s do an energy check-in. So, if you’re comfortable, close your eyes for just a moment.
Take a slow breath in…
and let it go.
And as you breathe, allow yourself to come back into your body.
We’re going to move our awareness from the base of the body all the way up to the crown of the head. I’m going to give you a question for each area. Don’t analyze it or try to fix it. Just notice what comes up. Draw your awareness.
At your root…Base of the spine/pelvic floor.
Do you feel grounded right now? Do you feel safe in your life? Or do you feel like you’re constantly holding your breath, waiting for the next thing? Just notice.
Take a breath.
Moving into your sacral area…Lower abdomen, just below the navel
How are you feeling emotionally? Are you allowing yourself to feel what you need to feel? Are you allowing yourself joy, creativity, pleasure, and play? Or have you been operating on autopilot? Just notice.
Breathe.
Moving into your solar plexus…upper abdomen / stomach area.
Think about your personal power. Where in your life do you feel confident and capable? And where might you be giving your power away? Are you making choices because they’re right for you or because they’re what someone else expects? Just notice.
Breathe.
Bring your awareness to your heart…center of the chest.
How open does your heart feel today? Are you giving love freely? But just as importantly… are you allowing yourself to receive love? Is there something you’re still holding onto that your heart may be ready to release? Don’t force an answer. Just notice.
Breathe.
Now bring your awareness to your throat…throat area.
What wants to be said? Is there something you’ve been holding back? Something you need to express? Or maybe something you need to say to yourself? Just notice.
Breathe.
Bring your awareness to your third eye…Center of the forehead, between the eyebrows.
Your place of inner knowing. Ask yourself: Am I trusting what I know? Or have I been talking myself out of my intuition? Sometimes we know before we can explain. Just notice.
Breathe.
And finally, bring your awareness to the crown of your head…top of the head.
Your connection to Spirit, to God, to something greater than yourself. Do you feel connected? Or have you been feeling a little disconnected lately? And remember… feeling disconnected doesn’t mean the connection isn’t there. Sometimes we simply become too busy, too overwhelmed, or too distracted to notice it.
Take one more slow breath.
And now, without judging anything you noticed, ask yourself: Where did I feel the most resistance? Where did I feel the most ease? And most importantly, what is my energy trying to tell me right now? You don’t have to have the answers today. Just listen.
Because awareness is the first step toward balance. Sometimes, before we can realign our energy, we simply have to slow down enough to and be open to notice where we are.
Pause.
Take another deep breath and open your eyes.
How was that? Which area seemed to get your attention?
Pause.
I’m going to suggest that you journal about this exercise afterwards. This is something you can do anytime you feel out of balance or confused. Become aware of similar events that may affect different areas of your energetic map.
Understanding the Colors of Our Chakras
Now, when we learn about chakras, you’re going to hear a lot about colors associated with each one. When we did the check in, I’m curious, did any color just show up? I think it is very interesting that, even if you don’t know about the color that represents each of the chakras, the color may show up because the energy knows.
Each of the seven main chakras is associated with a particular color. Being a visual person, I love using color. It gives us something tangible to connect with. Something to bring our focus to. You don’t have to believe that a color has some magical power. Think of it more as a language. A way of bringing our attention to a particular part of ourselves. Energy speaks to you the way it knows how: emotions, sounds, and visually. Let’s take a quick journey through them.
We begin at the Root Chakra; it is associated with red. Red is grounding. It’s connected with safety, stability, home, and our sense of being rooted in the world. Just like when a traffic light turns red, it means stop, be still, be aware. You might ask yourself:
Do I feel grounded in my life? Do I feel safe? Do I have a sense of stability? When we’re constantly worried, scattered, or living in survival mode, this is an area we might want to pay attention to. A way to compare this is to an earthquake. If the ground beneath you is trembling, it is difficult to keep your balance.
Then we move up to the Sacral Chakra, associated with orange. Orange is about emotion, creativity, movement, pleasure, and our ability to experience life. Ask yourself: Am I allowing myself to feel? Am I allowing myself to enjoy life? Am I creating, playing, and doing things that bring me joy? Have you gotten so busy taking care of everything and everyone else that you forgot you supposed to enjoy being here? I like to think of this as the smell of a freshly peeled orange. It has this freshness that makes me smile. Oranges are connected to vitamin C and sunshine. A warm day says, “Go outside and enjoy the day.”
Next is the Solar Plexus, associated with yellow. This is our sense of personal power, confidence, self-worth, and ability to take action. And I think this is a big one for many of us. Ask yourself: Am I standing in my own power? Am I making decisions for myself? Or am I giving my power away by constantly worrying about what everyone else thinks? Again, I look at the sun, but this time the light of the sun. Am standing in the light and making the best of the light that is shining on me? For me?
Moving on, we come to the Heart Chakra, associated with green. And of course, we think about love. It’s more than romantic love. It’s compassion. Connection. Forgiveness. Giving and receiving. And here’s the question: Am I allowing myself to receive love as easily as I give it? Sometimes we’re really good at taking care of everybody else, but not so good at allowing someone to take care of ourselves. When I think of the color green, I think of the forest and the freedom of the trees and flowers to grow where ever their seeds fall. They become a part of the rebirth each and every season. The flowers and trees thrive with vitality in the “heart” of the forest.
Moving up to the Throat Chakra, associated with blue. This is our voice. Our communication. Our truth. Our ability to express what we really think and feel. Ask yourself: What am I not saying? Is there something you’ve been holding back? Sometimes finding our voice isn’t about speaking louder. Sometimes it’s about finally being honest with ourselves. Blue is the color of the ocean. The waves go in and out, finding their way to the shoreline. There is a flow, a calm, a voice to the waves. That is my connection with blue and the throat chakra.
Then we move to the Third Eye, associated with indigo. This is the area we often connect with intuition, insight, and inner knowing. This is where I want you to think about that little voice inside of you. How often do I know something before I can explain how I know it? And possibly even more important: Do I trust myself when I receive that knowing? Indigo is a mixture of blue and violet. To me, it represents the base of a flame. The start, the beginning of the flame that creates the light that enables me to see.
Finally, we reach the Crown Chakra, associated with violet or sometimes white. This is our connection to Spirit, God, Source, whatever that greater connection means to you. It’s about spiritual awareness and the understanding that we are part of something bigger than ourselves. And here’s the beautiful thing: We don’t have to be spiritually perfect to experience that connection. Sometimes we simply need to slow down enough to notice it. This color brings me to the beginning, before me, what created me and knew me before I even existed. This is the love, wisdom, and reason of all the whys I have.
Bringing It All Together
When you look at the chakras, I don’t want you to examine them and think about seven separate things that need to be fixed. It’s a map of your experience. Short statements that are you. It is grounding. Emotion. Personal power. Love. Expression. Intuition. Spiritual connection. Throughout our lives, we’re going to move in and out of balance. That’s normal. That’s wisdom. After all, we are all human. You may feel incredibly grounded one day and completely scattered the next. You may feel confident in one area of your life and powerless in another. You may be open-hearted one day and protecting your heart the next. That doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. It means you are human. This is where and why awareness is so important. Because when we begin to notice our energy, we can begin to ask better questions. What am I feeling? Where am I feeling it? What is this trying to tell me?
That’s really what I mean when I talk about inner alignment. It’s not about becoming perfectly balanced. It’s about becoming aware enough to recognize when you’ve moved away from yourself and knowing how to come back gently, without judgement.
Color Energy Check-In
So now, instead of just talking about this, I’d like us to experience it. We’re going to once again take a few quiet moments and move our awareness through these seven areas. You don’t have to see colors. You don’t have to feel anything. There’s no right or wrong experience. I’m simply going to give you a color and an area of awareness, and I want you to notice what comes up for you. Again, don’t fix it or judge it. Just notice. Because sometimes the first step toward balance isn’t changing our energy. It’s listening to it.
We’re going to move our awareness from the base of the body all the way up to the crown of the head. I’m going to give you a color. Just notice, don’t fix or judge.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Bring your awareness to the base of your spine:
🔴 Root — Base of the spine / pelvic floor — Red
Notice for a minute…Let’s move up to the:
🟠 Sacral — Lower abdomen, just below the navel -Orange
Breathe and notice…Gently move up
🟡 Solar Plexus — Upper abdomen / stomach area -yellow
What are you feeling, just notice…Let’s move up to
🟢 Heart — Center of the chest — green
Breathe and feel into it… Glide your awareness to the
🔵 Throat — Throat area — Blue
Allow the color to surround this area and become aware…Let’s continue up to the
🟣 Third Eye — Center of the forehead, between the eyebrows — Indego
Notice what you are viewing…one more time, move your awareness to
⚪ Crown — Top of the head — Violet/white
Become aware of what there was before you were you…Breathe, and when you are ready, open your eyes.
How was that? Was it different from the first time? Even if you didn’t see the colors, how did your energy react in these areas? Be sure to record anything you realized or recognized to be your truth.
Remember, your chakras are an energy map. That map can give us a way to understand our experience. Then you can build the teaching around that idea rather than presenting seven disconnected chakras.
I want you to remember to think of your chakras as an energy map of your many experiences. Just like a road map can show you where you are, where you’ve been, and where you might want to go, your energy map can help you become aware of what’s happening within you. The chakras give us seven different areas to explore: grounding, emotions, personal power, love, expression, intuition, and spiritual connection. They aren’t seven things that need to be perfectly balanced all the time. They’re places we can notice. Where do I feel strong? Where do I feel stuck? Where am I giving too much? Where am I holding back? Where might I need a little more attention? And that’s where chakra awareness becomes useful. We’re not using the map to tell us what’s wrong with us. We’re using it to help us understand our experience. Because balance isn’t about making every part of ourselves exactly the same. Balance is knowing where you are and knowing how to come back to yourself.
What I’m teaching you is that chakra work isn’t necessarily about fixing an energy center. It’s about becoming aware of yourself. And that leads beautifully into next week’s topic: recalibration and inner alignment. Once we know where we’re out of balance, the next question is: what do we do about it? Your energy is always communicating. The question is: Are you listening?
My intent in this message was to make understanding chakras more about learning about your energetic roadmap. This is all about you coming back home to you. The you that may have been confused about chakras. I hope you now understand it isn’t about perfect balance or judgement. It’s about becoming aware of how you can live the life you love and love the life you live.
Have a magical day!
