Is It Mine? Not Everything You Feel Belongs to You.
Welcome, everyone. I’m so grateful you’re here for the Tuesday Talks at 10:30 recap. This is a moment in time created several years ago. It is meant to be a safe space to explore your spiritual path. We touch upon many subjects, from grief to connecting to spirit and our higher selves, stone energy, and so much more. Whether you are live or on replay or reading the blog, you have arrived at the exact moment you were meant to be here.
Welcome back, all returning connection tribe, and if this is your 1st time here, welcome to the connecting family. I am so glad you found us.
I’m Spiritual Healer, Author, Retreat Facilitator, Keynote Speaker, and an Evidential Medium, Stacey Niedentohl. I wear many woo-woo hats, and my passion is to meet you where you are in your journey of healing and growing.
Welcome to September. Our topic up for discussion this month is balance and inner alignment. We’ll be breaking it into different segments on harmony, organization, spiritual refinement, focus: will be on energy cleansing, chakra balance, clarity energies, Autumn equinox and recalibration.
Today, I want to dive deep into energy cleansing and clarity in energies. We need to ask ourselves several questions, starting with: Is it mine? Not everything you feel belongs to you.
There’s something about September that always feels like a threshold to me. We are coming out of one season and stepping into another. The Lion’s Gate was the opening in August to be…the light begins to change. The pace of life begins to shift. And it feels like a natural time to pause and ask ourselves: Where am I? How am I feeling? And am I actually in alignment with myself?
Our theme for September is Balance and Inner Alignment, and I think those two words are much more connected than we sometimes realize. Because balance isn’t always about making everything around us perfectly even. Sometimes it begins with knowing what belongs to us and what does not.
That is why today’s question to ponder is: Is it mine?
At one time or another, I’m sure we can all remember walking into a room feeling perfectly fine, and within a few minutes there is a change we notice. We start to feel anxious, irritated, heavy, uncomfortable, or just…different, off. Maybe you don’t know what it is but there is a difference. How many have felt this before? Nothing happened to you. Nobody said anything to you. And yet suddenly you’re carrying a feeling you didn’t walk in with.
Have you had a conversation with someone who was upset, and afterward you find yourself carrying their anxiety for the rest of the day? Where does your mind go?
You start thinking about their problem. You feel responsible for fixing it. You replay the conversation. You feel unsettled.
And sometimes we immediately assume: What’s wrong with me? But what if we could change the direction of the first question from “What’s wrong with me?” to “Is this mine?” Not everything you feel belongs to you. John Edward says all the time, “You’re not that important to take on everything.”
But make no mistake, that doesn’t mean every uncomfortable feeling is someone else’s energy. Sometimes it’s ours. Sometimes our emotions are telling us something important. Learning to tell the difference, that is discernment. Clarity begins when we stop confusing other people’s energy with our own.
Before you raise your vibration, clear your space.
We throw these phrases around a lot in the spiritual world: “Raise your vibration.” or “Clear your space.” I say it a lot because that is where it starts. But if you are new to this arena, you may be thinking, “Stacey, what the heck are you talking about?”
So, let’s talk about what those things actually mean? Because if we’re going to talk about balance and inner alignment, I think we need to bring it down to earth a little bit.
When I say, “raise your vibration,” I’m not talking about trying to become some perfectly positive, enlightened version of yourself. I’m not talking about raising the volume of your voice. And I’m not saying your body is going to shake out of control. To me, it’s much simpler than that. It’s about moving yourself toward a state where you feel clearer, more grounded, peaceful, present, and connected to yourself.
When you hear the phrase “clear your space,” I’m not necessarily talking about sage, crystals, or some elaborate spiritual ritual. Although those things can be meaningful tools. I’m talking about creating some breathing room. Clearing the fog, quieting the noise within and around you. Sometimes that means stepping away from a conversation. It may mean turning off your phone. Sometimes it means taking a walk. Saying, “I need a little time to myself.” It can mean taking a shower and imagining the day washing off of you. (We’ve spoken about shower meditation before. If you need more information about that, simply email me or comment, and I’ll send you what that entails). Sometimes clearing your space means prayer. It could mean sitting quietly long enough to realize, “Oh…I’ve been carrying everybody else’s stuff today.”
That’s clearing your space. It’s creating enough room around yourself that you can actually hear yourself think and feel yourself feel. Because here’s the thing:
You can’t always think your way into clarity when you’re surrounded by noise. Sometimes you have to create some space first. And that’s why I like the idea of: Before you raise your vibration, clear your space. In everyday language, that simply means: Before you try to feel better, make some room to breathe. Before you push yourself to be positive, ask yourself what you’re actually feeling. Before you try to move forward, see what you’re still carrying. And before you assume something is wrong with you…ask, “Is this mine?”
There is certainly something beautiful about choosing thoughts, environments, and practices that support us. I sometimes think we skip an important step. Before you raise your vibration, clear your space. Are we trying to feel better without first acknowledging what we’re carrying? Yes, my friend, this is important, acknowledge what you are carrying and is it yours to carry.
It’s like walking into a room that’s cluttered from floor to ceiling and saying, “I need more light.” But maybe the first thing we need to do is clear a little space. And our energetic lives can be exactly the same. Sometimes we don’t need to add anything. We need to release something. Ask first, “Is it mine”
Clearing the clutter. Think about what we accumulate throughout a day. Someone else’s bad mood. A conversation that didn’t go the way we wanted. Someone else’s expectations of us, those expectations lead us to guilt and fear. A worry about tomorrow. Something that happened yesterday. A social media post that triggered us. Something someone said five years ago that we’re still carrying. We can accumulate all of these things without even realizing it. I hope this helps you realize some of these things. Instead of wondering why we don’t feel clear. Why we don’t feel like ourselves? Why we’re exhausted? Why our intuition feels quiet? Sometimes our inner world is simply crowded. There is too much noise, and that’s why I love the idea of energetic cleansing. Not because I believe we need to walk around afraid of “bad energy.” But because cleansing can be an intentional way of saying things like: “This belongs to me, and I’m willing to work with it.” Or, “This doesn’t belong to me, and I’m willing to release it.”
Clarity doesn’t come from magically figuring out what’s wrong. It comes from releasing what never was yours to carry.
Ok, Stacey, how do I understand energy? How do I recognize my own energy? I’m glad you asked because here’s where I think something really important comes in.
Before you can recognize what you’ve picked up from someone else…you have to know what your own energy feels like. Think about the people you know really well. You can recognize their voice when they call you. You don’t have to see their name on the phone. You know their laugh. You know their tone. You know when something sounds different. Why? Because you’ve become familiar with them.
Our own energy deserves that same familiarity. What does your energy feel like when you’re grounded? What does it feel like when you’re rested? What does it feel like when you’re excited? What does it feel like when you’re forcing something? What happens in your body when you know something is right? What happens when something isn’t? Maybe you feel a lightness in your chest. Maybe your shoulders relax. Maybe you feel expanded. Maybe you breathe more deeply. Or the opposite: your body contracts. Your stomach tightens. Your shoulders rise. You become restless. You suddenly want to leave. These aren’t necessarily absolute rules. But they’re clues. And learning your own energetic language gives you something to compare everything else against. Because you can’t recognize a foreign voice if you’ve never learned your own.
Which is a great segway to something I believe deeply in saying, “Energy has a voice.”
It doesn’t always speak in words. Sometimes it speaks through your body. Sometimes through emotion. Sometimes through a quiet knowing. Sometimes through that feeling that says: Something isn’t right here. I need to slow down. I really want to do this. I don’t want to be here.
And sometimes we override that voice. We say: I should. I have to. They’ll be disappointed. What will they think? Maybe I’m overreacting. And little by little, we become more familiar with everybody else’s voice than we are with our own. That’s where we can lose our alignment. Inner alignment doesn’t necessarily mean knowing exactly what to do. It simply means being willing to listen to yourself honestly.
So rather than just talking about this today, I want us to experience it. Let’s do an energy check-in. When you do this yourself, be sure to pause long enough to feel into the answers. I will say pause and, on the blog, the word pause will be inserted.
If you’re somewhere you can do this comfortably, put both feet on the floor.
Take a slow breath in. And exhale. You don’t have to change anything.
[pause]
You don’t have to make yourself feel better.
[pause]
Just notice. Ask yourself: What am I feeling right now?
Don’t judge it. Just notice.
[pause]
Now ask: Where do I feel it in my body? And now the question we’ve been talking about:
Is this mine?
[pause]
Maybe you know immediately. Maybe you don’t. That’s okay.
Now ask:
What am I carrying that I don’t need to carry today?
[pause]
Imagine setting it down. You don’t have to know exactly how to fix it. You don’t have to understand it. Just imagine putting it down for now.
Take another breath.
[pause]
And ask yourself: What does my energy need from me today?
Maybe it needs rest. Maybe it needs movement. Maybe it needs a boundary. Maybe it needs laughter. Maybe it needs a conversation or silence. Maybe it simply needs you to stop pushing.
And finally:
What feels aligned for me right now?
[pause]
Just notice what comes.
Open your eyes, be sure to journal the answers that came to you. You don’t have to have some profound answer. Sometimes awareness is the answer we needed first. Maybe you noticed something during that little exercise. Does your energy feel lighter? Maybe you realized you’re carrying something that isn’t yours. Maybe you realized something you’ve been ignoring. Or maybe you simply realized: I need to slow down. That’s information. That’s your energy speaking. Coming back to yourself.
As we move into September, I want to offer you this thought: Balance isn’t about never feeling overwhelmed. Balance isn’t about always being positive. And inner alignment isn’t about having everything figured out. Sometimes balance is simply knowing when you’ve moved too far away from yourself…and being willing to come back. So, when you walk into a room this week and suddenly feel different…pause. Ask: Is it mine? When you feel overwhelmed…clear your space. When your mind feels crowded…clear the clutter. When you aren’t sure what you need…listen to your energy. And when you hear that quiet inner voice…don’t automatically dismiss it. You might be hearing yourself again.
Because clarity begins when we stop confusing other people’s energy with our own. And sometimes the greatest act of alignment isn’t adding something new to our lives. Sometimes it’s releasing what was never ours to carry.
So, as we welcome September, perhaps that’s our invitation. Not to become someone different. Not to become more spiritual. Not to raise our vibration simply for the sake of raising it. But to become a little more familiar with ourselves. To clear the space. To quiet the noise. To listen. And to come home to our own energy. Because underneath all the noise…your inner knowing has probably been there all along.
Let’s agree to listen to the voice of your energy, that voice is prompting you to live the life you love and love the life you love.
Thank you for spending part of your Tuesday morning with me.
And I’ll leave you with the question we began with: Is it yours? And if it isn’t…what are you ready to put down?
Blessing for a magical day
Stacey
