I want to take this time to remind you of the Only a Whisper Away Women’s Retreat October 8th-11th, Wonderland style. We leave this week.

This month the focus is on Shadow Work. We’ll be breaking it down into weekly talks focusing on transformation, healing, the shadow, ancestral wisdom, shadow work journaling, past life wisdom. October is a great month for deep transformation, the thinning veil, and what shadow power can look like. Let’s start with it coming out from out of the shadow and find who has been hiding deep within you. Our talks from January to September have prepared us for this moment.

Take a breath with me… In… and out…

Today we begin a month-long journey into the Shadow. Not as a place of fear, but as a place of power. October is the season of thinning veils. The ancestors walk closer. Past-life memories stir. Our intuition sharpens. And the parts of ourselves we’ve hidden begin to rise.

Let’s make this month about transformation, healing, remembrance, and reclaiming our power. And today, we begin with the most important truth of shadow work:

First of all, your shadow is not your darkness. Your shadow is your power. Hang onto that thought for a bit and really think about it. Your shadow is your power.

Setting the Intention for the Month

Today, our intention is simple and sacred:

To reclaim the parts of ourselves that we abandoned. To listen to the wisdom of our lineage. To honor the echoes of who we’ve been before. And to step out of the shadows and into our soul’s truth.

There is a misconception. The misconception is that shadow work is only about fixing ourselves. But it is not about fixing yourself. It’s about remembering yourself. It’s about meeting the version of you that has been waiting in the wings. The one who is ready to step forward now.

What Is Shadow Power?

Let’s talk about the power in the shadow.

Shadow Power is the strength, intuition, confidence, and truth you buried to survive. It’s the voice you silenced. The boundaries you swallowed. The magic you dimmed. The identity you hid because the world wasn’t ready, or a safe place for it. That part of you that learned to disappear is now ready to reappear.

During the thinning of the veil, these parts rise naturally. You may feel old emotions resurfacing. Old dreams returning. Old versions of yourself whispering, "Remember me. " This is not regression. This is resurrection.

Your shadow is not a wound; it is an archive. A library of everything you’ve ever been. Everything you’ve ever suppressed. Everything you’re meant to reclaim. Shadow Power is the YOU that emerges when you stop hiding.

Archetype: The You Emerging from the Shadows

I want you to imagine an archetype. The superhero is within us. The bat signal is in the sky, calling you. A figure stepping out of the mist. They are not afraid of their depth. They carry ancestral symbols and wear fragments of past lives. Their eyes glow with remembrance. They walk with a presence that says, ‘I know who I am now.’

This archetype is YOU. The you who is honest. The you who is intuitive. The you who is sovereign. The you who is done shrinking and ready to be seen.

Ask yourself: Who is the version of me that steps forward when I stop hiding? Let the question sit for a minute or two.

Guided Soul Inquiry

Close your eyes for a moment.

Imagine yourself walking down a dimly lit corridor. The air is cool. The veil is thin. You can feel your ancestors behind you; steady, supportive, present. You can feel past-life versions of yourself within you and beside you. These ancestors feel wise, protective, and familiar.

Ahead of you is a doorway of shadow. Not darkness…shadow. The place where your truth has been waiting.

Step toward it.

And now, ask yourself, gently, honestly:

What part of me have I kept in the shadows? What power have I been afraid to claim? What identity is trying to return to me? What ancestral gift is resurfacing? What past-life version of me is whispering guidance?

Imagine a light rising from within the shadow. Not from above, but from inside you. This is your Shadow Power. This is your truth returning. Just notice for a few minutes.

Slowly come to notice the room that you are in. Take a deep breath and open your eyes.

Of course, I’m going to tell you to journal is but let me explain why.

The Nervous System & Shadow Journaling

Before we go into our journaling, I want to explain something important, something that will help you understand what’s happening inside your body when you do shadow work.

Shadow journaling doesn’t just activate your emotions. It activates your nervous system.

When you write about a wound, a memory, a fear, or a part of yourself you’ve hidden, your brain lights up the same neural pathways that were active when the original experience happened. This is why shadow work can feel intense. It’s not because you’re ‘going backwards.’ It’s because your body is saying: ‘This happened… but it is not happening now.’

This is the magic moment your prefrontal cortex; the part of your brain responsible for understanding, meaning-making, safety, and conscious awareness, turns on. It comes online and begins to reprocess the memory. Your body may react as if the past is present. Your breath may change. Your chest may tighten. Your stomach may flutter. Your throat may constrict. But your conscious awareness, your witnessing self, is what rewrites the story. Shadow journaling is not reliving the past. It is reclaiming power from the past.

Your nervous system is validating you that: I survived this. I’m safe now. I can integrate this. I can reclaim the part of me that got stuck here. The part left behind, abandoned.

This is why shadow work is transformational. You’re not just thinking differently…you are rewiring your body’s relationship to your own story. You are teaching your nervous system that the shadow is not a threat. Instead, think of it as a doorway.

When you write tonight, if you feel activation, things like heat, emotion, tightness, or resistance; remember that this is not a sign you’re doing something wrong. It’s a sign your shadow is opening. A sign your body is releasing the old charge. It’s a sign your nervous system is learning a new truth. This is safe to feel now.

If you feel activation, place one hand on your chest and one on your belly. Breathe slowly. And say: ‘I am safe. I am here. This is my healing.’ Let your body know it’s allowed to release.

Shadow work is not about forcing yourself into discomfort. It’s about allowing your body to complete a story it never got to finish. This is where shadow power is born. You are stepping out of the shadow into your spotlight. You are showing up. Write at the top of your journal. “This is where shadow power is born.” Or call your journal “Where shadow power is born”

So, as you write, remember:

Your body may react like the past is happening. Your awareness reminds it that the past is over. And together, they create a new truth. This is shadow power.

Shadow Work Journaling

Ok, back to journaling. If your journal is close by open it or grab a piece of paper and pen. Write without censoring, without editing, without performing. Remember to write at the top This is where shadow power is born.

Use these prompts to find your answers:

  • The shadow version of me holds the power of…

  • I have been hiding because…

  • My soul is asking me to remember…

  • The identity I am reclaiming is…

  • My ancestors want me to know…

  • My past-life self is reminding me that I am…

Let it flow. Let it be messy. Let it be honest. Do not judge it, just answer the prompts.

Ancestral Wisdom Moment

Here’s something important: Many of our ancestors hid their power for survival. They dimmed their gifts. They silenced their intuition. They carried wounds they never had the chance to heal. We inherit their silence, but we also inherit their strength. Shadow work is not just personal healing. It is ancestral liberation.

Ask yourself: What power did my lineage lose that I am here to restore?

Past Life Thread

Some of your shadow power is not from this lifetime. It is past-life identity resurfacing. Maybe you were a healer. A mystic. A warrior. A priestess. A storyteller. A leader. A guardian. There are so many possibilities. Shadow work often reveals the roles you once held. The ones your soul remembers, even if your mind does not.

What past-life identity feels familiar in my shadow?

Closing Activation

Place your hand over your heart. Take a breath. And repeat after me, slowly, intentionally and with meaning: “I step out of the shadows and into my soul’s truth. I reclaim what I once abandoned. I remember who I am. I rise.”

There is a poem I wrote about rising out of the shadows and into your power, and I want this for you.

I am Her

I will look for her with my heart

Because I know that she is there

She has been the biggest part

of a life that seems unfair.

She is never far away

She may be healing

Her love will not decay

She will protect the things that the world tries to steal.

She has many things to do on this earth

She is strong and will overcome

A new solution she will birth

No matter what the world has done.

She has faith in God’s ultimate plan

And the process in which to grow

She will search for goodness, and with time she will know

She is meant to gather the wisdom for which she stands.

And although you may not see

This she I speak of is me.

Step into your shadow power. Never stop growing, evolving, and learning. You have always been meant to love the life you live and live the life you love.

This is Week 1. This is the beginning. This is your emergence.

Next week, we go deeper: into identity unraveling, ancestral healing, and past-life reclamation.

But today… you stepped out of the shadows. And that changes everything.

If this episode resonated with you, like and share. Or better yet, message me “take me to Wonderland” and I’ll send you information. Don’t be late for a very important date, October 8–11th.

I’m so excited to go to Wonderland. The only thing missing is you —

Step out of the shadow and have a magical day.
