Finding Wisdom in Reflection…Questions to Ask Yourself
Good morning, welcome back to the Tuesday Talks at 10:30 recap. A moment in time that was created several years ago. It is meant to be a safe space to explore your spiritual path. We touch upon many subjects, from grief to connecting to spirit and our higher selves, and so much more. Whether you are live or on replay or reading the blog, you have arrived at the exact moment you were meant to be here.
Welcome back, all returning connection tribe, and if this is your 1st time here, welcome to the connecting family. I am so glad you found us.
I’m a Spiritual Healer, Author, Retreat Facilitator, and Evidential Medium, Stacey Niedentohl. I wear many woo-woo hats, and my passion is to meet you where you are in your journey of healing and growing.
This month, we are exploring emotional wisdom and intuition. We’ll be looking into moon work, water energy, emotional release, reflection. Over the last two weeks, we’ve been taking a journey inward.
Our first conversation began with dreams. We talked about dream journaling and how our subconscious often speaks in symbols before our conscious mind is ready to listen. I left you with one question: “What part of me is still hurting?”
Not because I wanted anyone to dwell in pain, but because healing begins with honesty. We cannot heal what we’re unwilling to acknowledge.
Last week, we shifted our focus to emotional wisdom and intuition.
I shared an image of a lake. Imagine standing beside a lake after a storm. The water is muddy. You can’t see the rocks beneath the surface. You can’t see the reflection of the trees or the sky. But something remarkable happens when the storm passes. The lake doesn’t force itself to become clear. It simply becomes still. As the movement settles, the water naturally clears.
Our emotions work much the same way. Unless we pause to reflect and search for clarity. We are constantly reacting, rushing, or avoiding what we feel, life can seem cloudy. But when we allow ourselves moments of stillness, clarity begins to emerge.
The question we reflected on last week was: “What am I feeling?”
Today, I’d like to take us one step further and expand our thinking. Not into fixing ourselves. Not into becoming someone different. But into learning how to live in the rhythm of us. I believe so many of us have forgotten is that life moves in cycles, in phases like the moon. Nature understands this. The seasons understand this. The tides understand this. The moon reminds us of this every single month.
The moon has fascinated people for thousands of years. We know scientifically that its gravitational pull influences the ocean’s tides. The water rises. The water falls. There is movement. There is rhythm. There is change. Whether or not you connect spiritually with the moon, I think it offers us a beautiful reminder. Nothing in nature is meant to stay exactly the same. So why do we expect ourselves to? We feel that we always have to be productive. Always motivated. Always confident. Always strong. But look around. Really look around and notice things like the trees don’t bloom all year. The ocean isn’t at high tide all day. The moon isn’t full every night. Nature teaches us that change isn’t failure. It’s rhythm. And perhaps we’re healthiest when we stop fighting our own rhythms and begin paying attention to them. That is what I think moon work really is. Not about predicting the future. Not about magic. But about using the moon as a monthly invitation to pause and reflect. A reminder to ask ourselves, “Where am I now?” Not where I think I should be. Not where someone else wants me to be. But honestly… Where am I? Because awareness always comes before transformation.
There’s another thing water teaches us. Water reflects. When the surface is calm, it becomes a mirror. It reflects the sky. The moon. The stars. Even ourselves. But if that same water is constantly stirred…its reflection disappears. The reflection wasn’t gone. It was simply hidden beneath the movement. I wonder how many of us have been living like stirred water. Always moving. Always doing. Always scrolling. Always solving. Always giving. And somewhere along the way, we’ve lost sight of our own reflection. We have too many things stirring up the water.
We’ve become experts at checking our calendars. Our email. Our social media. Everyone else’s needs. But when was the last time we checked in with ourselves? We lack time in self-preservation and love. I’m here to break the myth we all believe: reflection isn’t selfish. Reflection is responsible. If we don’t know what’s happening within us, eventually it shows up around us. It shows up in our relationships. Our patience. Our stress. Our decisions.
Myth buster number 2: Reflection isn’t about finding everything that’s wrong.
It’s about noticing what’s true. Maybe what’s true today is… “I’m tired.” Maybe it’s… “I’m grieving.” Maybe it’s… “I’m happier than I’ve allowed myself to admit.” Maybe it’s…“I’m ready for something new.” All of those answers are welcome. All of those answers are about emotional wisdom. Name it to tame it. Being awareness doesn’t judge. It simply notices.
I often think about how much energy we spend trying to force life. We force answers. We force healing. We force growth. But water never forces. It flows. When it meets a rock, it doesn’t argue with the rock. It moves around it. Given enough time, water shapes mountains. Not through force. Through consistency. There’s wisdom in that. Maybe resilience isn’t always pushing harder. Maybe resilience is learning when to soften. When to pause. When to change direction. Without giving up. I feel that reflection gives us that opportunity. To stop living on autopilot. To ask ourselves questions that matter.
Questions like…
What am I carrying that no longer belongs to me? What beliefs have I outgrown? Where am I holding tension? What deserves more of my attention? What deserves less? And perhaps my favorite… What wants to emerge in this next season of my life? Those aren’t questions we answer in thirty seconds. They’re questions we live with. Questions to journal about. Questions we return to. Month after month. Just like the moon returns. I think that’s why journaling can be such a powerful practice. Not because we need perfect answers. But because writing slows our thinking. It allows us to hear ourselves. Sometimes our deepest wisdom has been whispering all along. We were simply too busy to hear it.
I’d like to offer you a simple monthly practice.
The next time you notice the moon (a full moon…August 27–28) or even just notice yourself needing a pause…set aside fifteen minutes. Leave your phone inside. Take a notebook. Sit somewhere quiet. Look at the sky if you can. Take a few deep breaths. Then ask yourself three questions. What am I grateful for? What am I ready to release? What do I want to nurture in the coming weeks? Don’t worry about finding profound answers. Just listen. Because your life is speaking to you all the time. Reflection helps you hear it.
Over these last three weeks, we’ve asked three different questions.
The first…
What part of me is still hurting?
The second…
What am I feeling?
And today… I’d like to leave you with one final question.
What is ready to change?
Not because change is required. But because growth often begins the moment we’re willing to notice. Like the moon, you are allowed to move through phases. Like the tides, you are allowed to rise and fall. Like the lake, you become clearer when you make space for stillness. And like water, you don’t have to force your way through life. You can trust that gentle, consistent movement creates transformation over time.
The moon represents the light that helps us see, but the real discovery isn’t the moon — it’s ourselves
Dreams reveal what may be beneath the surface.
Emotions are like water that can be cloudy or clear.
The moon reminds us to pause and reflect.
Still water becomes the mirror in which we recognize ourselves.
Sometimes a dream is simply a dream. Sometimes it’s an emotion waiting to be named. But whether our answers come through dreams, journaling, or quiet reflection, they all ask the same thing of us — to pause. Because when the waters become still, they don’t just reflect the moon…they reflect us.
All of this and so much more is part the path to living your unique self. It’s in this path we discover a way to live the life you live and live the life you love.
Have a magical day,
Stacey
