Today, we are exploring self-expression.
Self-expression is the choice to let the world see who you are, fully and truthfully
To quote Oscar Wilde, “Be yourself; everyone else already is”
This speaks directly to embracing your individuality.
We’ve spoken about some reasons why we stop expressing ourselves. A lot of times it evolves around early conditioning. As children, we naturally express ourselves. We dance before we know how. Children sing even if they are off key. But as time goes by, we are hit with the “great silencer” known as fear. We are afraid of judgement, rejection, failure, and fear disappointing others.
Until something opens within us that says “enough”. We begin to awaken spiritually. There are so many buzzwords around spiritual awakening, but to define it as simply as possible, it is simply finding yourself. In reality, it can feel more like remembering yourself. Many people spend years living from habit, expectation, survival, or obligation. They become so accustomed to wearing masks that they forget they are wearing them.
When something happens, like a loss, life transition, the ending of a relationship, a spiritual experience, or a moment of profound stillness. Suddenly, the life that once fit begins to feel too small. The version of yourself that was built to survive is no longer the version that is meant to lead. This is the beginning of awakening. Not becoming someone else. Not reaching perfection. But waking up to a version of yourself that has been patiently waiting beneath the noise. The soul doesn’t force this process. It simply keeps calling. And every time you choose honesty over performance, authenticity over approval, and alignment over fear, you answer that call.
The awakening journey is not a single moment. It is a series of moments where you recognize yourself more clearly than you did the day before.
“Who would you be if you stopped performing and started expressing?”
Many people spend years trying to fit into expectations, roles, labels, and identities. Yet beneath all of that exists something authentic waiting to be seen and heard. Things change when you speak your truth.
Spiritual self-expression is allowing your soul, values, truth, and inner wisdom to be reflected through your words, actions, creativity, relationships, and daily life. It’s not that fear of success and visibility goes away. Many people aren’t afraid of expressing themselves. They’re afraid of what might happen afterward.
When we repeatedly ignore our inner truth, there is a cost of self-abandonment. The symptoms often appear: chronic dissatisfaction, feeling disconnected, resentment, anxiety, lack of purpose, and feeling unseen. Do any of those symptoms align with how you feel or have felt?
But the soul does not give up on you, it continuously nudges us toward authenticity. Imagine a river trying to flow while being blocked by stones. The water flows around or through the cracks in the stones. It continues to search for an opening to flow.
Self-expression is more than speaking. It can be:
Through Words: Speaking your truth with kindness.
Through Creativity: Art, music, writing, crafting, gardening, cooking.
Through Boundaries: Saying “no” when necessary.
Through Purpose: Living aligned with your values.
Through Presence: Showing up as your authentic self without shrinking.
Spiritual self-expression is not becoming louder. It is becoming more honest. It is coming into a place of knowing who you are becoming. Sometimes, we know we have more to offer, but we do not know where to start. Here are a few practices to awaken your authentic expression.
1. Listen Before You Speak
Spend time in silence.
The soul whispers before it shouts.
2. Notice Your Triggers
Triggers often reveal places where your authentic self feels restricted.
Ask: “What part of me is asking to be seen?”
3. Creative Expression Practice
Spend ten minutes daily creating without judging the outcome.
The goal is expression, not perfection.
4. Speak One Truth Daily
Practice expressing one honest feeling, need, or desire each day.
Small acts of courage build spiritual confidence.
5. Ask Yourself
“What would I do if I trusted my soul more than my fear?”
You are growing and becoming a living expression of your spirit each day that you are mindful of being the best version of your authentic self. Your soul does not need improvement. It needs permission. The world does not benefit from a smaller version of you. It benefits from the unique expression that only you can bring. Every person carries a song, a message, a light that no one else can offer in quite the same way. Your purpose is not to imitate another person’s path. Your purpose is to become the clearest expression of your own.
Things I’d like you to really think about when you go through your day-to-day life. Things change when you speak your truth. It is not about being noticed by the world. It is about allowing your soul to be witnessed by you. Placing a hand on your heart and silently asking yourself:
“What part of me is ready to be expressed?”
I challenge you to meditate on the question. What part of me is ready to be expressed? Then listen with a loving heart and an open mind. Give yourself permission to start expressing the beautiful, unique energy that you are. The one that has been waiting to come out and play, and to live the life you love and love the life you live.
Blessings for a magical, unique exploration to reconnect to the unique essence that is deep within you, waiting to come out and play.
