This is a new month. Let’s welcome August in with discussions about Personal Power and Soul Purpose. We will focus on leadership, courage, authenticity, confidence, focusing on life purpose. We will incorporate the fire energy of empowerment this month. You won’t want to miss a week.
Today, we’re stepping into a conversation that is both ancient and deeply personal to me. Let’s discuss the spiritual meaning of August, and how this month opens a doorway into our Soul Purpose. It is always a special month to me because it is my birth month. August is the beginning of a new year around the sun for me. I take this time to reflect on the progress I’ve made and adjustments that will make this year my best year ever. I am only this age for 1 year, so why not make it the best that I possibly can.
I want to begin with a story.
A few years ago, in early August, I was sitting outside late in the evening, looking out into the fields of growing corn. The sky was that deep summer blue, the kind that feels like velvet. The cicadas were singing, the air was warm, and everything felt suspended. It was like the world was holding its breath. Just for a moment, I remember feeling this quiet pressure inside me. Not anxiety. Not fear. More like a truth that had ripened and was ready to be picked. A knowing that was bubbling up inside of me that I couldn’t ignore anymore. And in that moment, I realized something: This month of my birth, August, doesn’t just change the season. It changes us. It creates a threshold. A moment of ripening. A moment of clarity.
This month carries a very specific spiritual frequency, and when we understand it, we can work with it instead of against it. It is as authentic as our fingerprints. This month has its own special spiritual signature. It represents the time when the seeds we planted earlier in the year begin to show us who we are becoming and what our soul is asking us to step into next.
Let’s go deeper into a core explanation of what that means. The Lion’s Gate Portal is August 8th. The Lion’s Gate Portal is a spiritual alignment that peaks every year on August 8th, (Only a few days away) It is when the Sun in Leo aligns with the star Sirius and the Earth. Spiritually, this alignment is seen as a moment of heightened intuition, accelerated manifestation, and deep soul awakening. It’s when we feel called to step into our truth, release old identities, and embody their Soul Purpose with courage.
Imagine standing at the height of summer, the world warm, golden, alive. The Sun is in Leo, the sign of courage, heart, and self-expression. Above us, the star Sirius; long associated with spiritual wisdom and higher consciousness, rises in the sky.
For thousands of years, ancient cultures saw this moment as a gateway. A doorway. A cosmic opening. It’s as if the universe pulls back a curtain and says: “Here. Look. This is who you truly are.” The Lion’s Gate is the moment when the energy of the Sun (your identity) and the energy of Sirius (your soul) meet. And when they meet, something inside us wakes up.
People feel it as:
sudden clarity
intuitive downloads
emotional release
a surge of courage
a desire to step into their purpose
It’s not subtle. It’s a spiritual spotlight.
Metaphorically, the Lion’s Gate is like a cosmic sunrise. It’s the moment when the light of your soul becomes impossible to ignore. Your inner lion, your courage, your truth, your voice begins to roar. It’s a portal that says: “You are done being small. You are done dimming your light. You are ready to become who you were meant to be.”
A Practical Explanation
The Lion’s Gate Portal is anchored in three elements:
1. The Sun in Leo
Leo energy = identity, courage, self-expression, heart.
2. The heliacal rising of Sirius (Hi Le-w kel)
Sirius = spiritual wisdom, higher consciousness, soul-level truth.
3. Earth’s position in this alignment
Earth = embodiment, action, physical reality.
When these three energies align, we experience: heightened intuition, emotional clearing, increased creativity, clarity of purpose, courage to act. This is why people often make big decisions, have breakthroughs, or feel spiritually activated around August 8.
Every year around August 8th, I notice something shift inside me. It’s like a truth I’ve been avoiding suddenly becomes loud. A desire I’ve been suppressing becomes undeniable. A part of me that’s been quiet finally speaks. That’s the Lion’s Gate. It’s the moment your soul taps you on the shoulder and says, ‘Hey… it’s time.’ Now whether it is the Lion’s Gate or the thought of being another year older, I always find clarity in something I’ve been putting off. I either put a plan in place to start it or have a knowing that this is not something for me to invest my energy in.
When I started to reflect on the past, I noticed that every year, I felt restless in August. It was like something inside was trying to break free. I didn’t know why. But one year, during the Lion’s Gate, I had a thought or a vision of standing in a field of tall golden grass. I heard a voice say: “You’re not lost. You’re becoming.” That voice changed my life. I left a job that had been draining me for years. I began to focus on writing a book that was in my head for years. I carved out time to sit and write. I found I was living in fear of others reading my words, and I started to live with courage instead of caution. The courage to be who I was all along, but was afraid of what others might think. The Lion’s Gate is like that. It’s a cosmic alignment that wakes us up. It reminds us that our soul didn’t come here to be small.
Let’s begin to harvest this energy instead of fighting with it. Here is what I’d like you to visualize. I want you to imagine a field in late summer. The crops are tall and plentiful. The fruit is heavy. The air smells sweet. Then acknowledge, harvest is not just about gathering crops, it’s about a revelation that shows us what has grown in our lives. It shows us what we’ve been nurturing. It shows us what is ready to be acknowledged. Sometimes that’s beautiful. Sometimes it’s uncomfortable. But it’s always honest.
Next, let’s bring in the balance of Fire and Earth.
August sits between Leo and Virgo; fire and earth. Fire inspires us. Earth grounds us. Together, they teach us how to turn inspiration into embodied purpose. Think of a spark becoming a flame and then becoming a hearth. That’s August. The spark inside each of us.
What does August reveal about Soul Purpose? Now, let’s examine Soul Purpose, because August is one of the clearest mirrors we have for understanding it. Soul Purpose is not a job title. It’s not a single mission. It’s not one thing you’re meant to do. Your soul purpose is the expression of your highest truth. That tug of the way your soul wants to move through the world in this chapter of your life.
Let me share a story.
There was a conversation I had with someone who spent years searching for his purpose. He tried different careers, different hobbies, different spiritual practices. Nothing felt right. One August, he took a long walk in the woods. He sat by a stream and cried; not because he was sad, but because he was tired of trying to “figure it out.” And in that moment of surrender, he heard his intuition whisper: “Your purpose is not something you find. Your purpose is something you become.” That was his turning point.
August is like a spiritual spotlight.
It shows you:
What is authentic
What is draining
What is calling you forward
What you’ve outgrown
Where your courage is needed
Three August Questions That Awaken Soul Purpose
1. What is ripening in me?
Think of a peach in August: it is soft, fragrant, ready. Your soul ripens too. What desires are becoming impossible to ignore? What truths are becoming louder?
2. What must I release to grow?
Release is not loss. Release is alignment. Imagine a tree shedding fruit that’s overripe. It’s not waste. It’s wisdom.
3. Where is my courage needed?
Courage is the bridge between who you’ve been and who you’re becoming. August asks you to walk that bridge.
August as a portal of Alignment, it is not just a month… it’s a portal. You can come into alignment with yourself when you acknowledge something is changing in me. I feel a tug, a pull, or even a push to do more.
I once worked with a client who said: “I feel like August is the month where my soul taps me on the shoulder and says, ‘Hey… you’re not living your truth.’”
Would you agree that August asks: Are you living as the person your soul knows you are?
When you pay attention, energetic alignment feels like a no brainer. You feel your soul saying, “I’ve been waiting for you to align.” You may notice that during this time of year: your desires intensify, your intuition gets louder, your tolerance for misalignment shrinks. This is spiritual timing. Your purpose starts to feel aligned.
August pushes you to:
Speak your truth
Make decisions that honor your path
Step out of hiding
Claim your gifts
Move from intention to embodiment
Purpose is not a destination. Purpose is a direction.
Here are some practical ways to work with this month’s energy:
Let’s bring this into your daily life.
1. Daily Reflection: Use daily reflection to notice what feels aligned vs. draining.
2. Courage Rituals: Practice small courage rituals. Do one brave act a day.
3. Purpose Journaling: Use purpose journaling to clarify your direction. You knew I was going to talk about journaling.
4. Harvest Gratitude: Practice harvest gratitude. Acknowledge what has grown in your life. Where you were compared to where you are now with gratitude.
5. Intuition Walks: Take intuition walks. Let nature clarify your inner voice. Walk in silence and listen, feel, sense what the universe is asking you and showing you.
As we close, I want to leave you with one final thought. Every August can feel like you are standing at the edge of a beautiful field. You don’t always know what’s ahead, but you know you can’t stay where you are.
Reflect and say to yourself: “August feels like the moment my soul asks me to be brave. I can be brave.”
August is not just another month. It is a spiritual invitation. It calls you to step into the fullness of who you are. To honor the truth ripening within you. To release what no longer fits. And to walk forward with the courage of a soul aligned with its purpose.
Your purpose is not ahead of you. It’s inside you. And in August, it begins to shine.
